ANYONE FROM FORT WAYNE????????

I live in fort wayne indiana and i just found a support group for this surgery after looking for almost 2 years . is anyone in here from fort wayne Indiana???? does anyone go to the support group meeting first thur of each month out near lutheran hospital? Thanx a bunch :-D Cheri

Cheri- I am brand new to this site. I have just gotten a surgery date for Dec. 20. I live in Decatur and have attended a neat support group that meets in Fort Wayne on the third Tues. of each month at 6:00 at TurnStone I think is the name of the place. That meeting is for people who are pre-op and post-op up to one year out I think. They also have another meeting on a different night for those beyond one year. Tonight is one of those nights where I am having trouble sleeping. My daughter knows more about this and I can check with her later for more info. By then perhaps someone from that group will have responded to you too. Hope this works out for you. Karen

Hi Cheri! Yes, I live in Fort Wayne. The support group I attend was already mentioned by another poster, but I thought I might add some details. The meeting is the third Tuesday of the month. The time is 6:00-8:00 pm. It is at Turnstone (3320 N. Clinton St., Ft. Wayne). These meetings are sponsored by St. Vincents Carmel Barriactric group, but all would be welcomed! This meeting is for those pre and post op. The other poster is correct that there is another group who are further out of surgery who meets the night after this group. Lisa - thanks so much for the reminder about the meeting. My daughter and I haven't been there for several months. But now that I have finally been approved and have a date (Dec. 20) I feel like more of the group. I am a teacher and the days of freedom are flying by so quickly that I almost forgot the meeting was next week. Hope to see you then and put a face with your name and mine. Karen

Hi Cheri- I'm from north of Ft. Wayne, (Waterloo) and I also go the the St. Vincnet meetings at Turnstone. Have you had surgery or are you preparing for surgery?

WOW thank you all for the responces. I would love to go . We only have 1 car right now so ill see what i can do but i sure would love to go . My Mike is having surgery on his neck(spine)in about 12 hours . he gets out of the hospital on friday we think, if he thinks he can be on his own by Tue. then ill try to go but if not i guess ill have to wait .but thats ok im just so glad i know where there is a meeting now :-).. again thank you all so very much CHERI

I also have been attending the group from St. V. I went about 2 weeks before my surgery (June 9) and have attended since. THe group is very helpful and always lively. It has been a tremendous source of info for me. Good luck and hope to see you at the group.
