Happy Saturday!
So happy its Saturday. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Just want to apologize in advance if I have lots of parental type questions. My mom died when I was 19, and the only family I have are my brother and my dad (who aren't much help), and I really don't have any friends that aren't on this site. And since I know there is so much love and experience here, I figured, what better place to get questions answered from!
We went to Walmart last night and got some of the basics put on layaway so we can start paying on it bit by bit. We were going to wait and find out what the gender is and then decorate accordingly, but the stuff we picked out last night had a cute jungle/safari theme that is pretty unisex, and we liked it, so jungle/safari room it is! Just the basic stuff were spendy! I have never spent $450 at one time in walmart EVER! This thing is the size of a grape and is costing a fortune already LOL! We put the playpin, bouncer, stroller, swing, high chair, crib set, and a couple little things on layway. So if nothing else I can get the baby home and it has somewhere to sleep. I also bought two more pregnancy tests because it just seems so unreal! Sure enough, still coming out positive!
Wow, I didnt get any thing new with my kids but the car sets, I went to garage sales. Baby things do add up. Darrah try sales honey, alot of baby stuff looks new and saves alot of money. Babies can cost alot, when the dipars and formulas start that money is a real ouch. I know not everything you can find at garage sales, but you can get alot of it. I am so glad things are going so well for you. Babies are so exciting to be around. Good morning .

there are yard sales gal......now i would buy a new car seat cos so many are recalled and buying it new you will learn to put it in right.........but those other things shoot a high chair it wil not need till it sits up........check out some yard sales...and don't spend alot of money right now...most couples want to make sure everything is ok.....which i know you will be...you should have about 8 months so there will be sales too to catch and save even more.........
Baby shopping is so much fun. With my first, I went to yard sales, because I was a college student, and we didn't have much $$$. With my last baby, I knew I wasn't planning to have anymore, so I had a ball. I got whatever I wanted for her --- clothes, equipment, etc. I mean I waited for 4 years to have her, and had to try really hard to get her (had to use fertility meds), so I was going to enjoy it fully! I hope you have a wonderful time getting what you want for this baby. One thing that might help with the boring stuff to buy like formula is WIC. WIC has a pretty high income guideline, much higher than food stamps or the like. I got WIC the first two times, and it really helped with supplementing groceries and buying formula (I couldn't breastfeed because of my blood pressure medicines).

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
Take that bouncer, swing, and stroller back, and come get mine!!!!
Also, crib sets----USELESS!!!! They look cute, but that's it. That comforter is way too bulky to keep baby warm. The bumper pad presents a danger when baby starts moving around--there is a possibility that he/she could get its little arm, leg, or God forbid--head stuck under it. Buy a pattern and fabric, and let's have a good old-fashioned sewing bee!!! I swaddled my little girl in flannel sheets, flannel recieving blankets, quilts, and fleece blankets. That comforter set was for looks only and served no functional purpose.
Also, you will have a baby shower!! Your family and friends will see to that.
And I am about half anti-WalMart. I have bought better stuff at lower prices at nicer stores like Kohl's, Penney's, and Sears with sales and coupons. Don't let WalMart suck you in!!!!
Have fun shopping--but remember that you will get more gifts than you ever expected!!!
Hey there girl! I know I am not as prolific of a poster as some of the others here but just wanted to say congratulations! When are you due? I am lucky enough that this is my 3rd baby and I have a LOT left over from #1 and #2. I am due March 10. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask me! We are going to find out what we are having too! IT is an exciting time!!!!
