Tracey,
I didn't have any problems with mine...and as has been said, I found him odd too. There were a few things I didn't agree with that he put in his letter to the insurance so I covered those topics in a cover letter to the insurance that was the first page of the packet I had sent in. Before you consider going to someone else, be sure that it is ok with Dr. Cacucci/Jones/Gupta's office. All surgeons at St. V's do not have the same policies so I'd hate to see you go somewhere else to learn that they require you go to their in-house guy. Why go through that twice? Anyway, it is pretty harmless for most people I think. He didn't try to upset me, but did ask me some pretty blunt questions. Guess it depends on how at peace you are with your past on how upset his questions may make you. Some of that is to try to help pin point why you are obese. Is it emotional eating? Is it boredom? Is food used as a reward? Etc. If it's stress or lack of coping healthy with emotional issues, he may suggest some additional assistance to ensure that you have the best possible chance of success. Just remember, he's only doing his job.
As for how long it takes...depends entirely upon your insurance. Most try to have a decision back within 2 weeks (like Anthem for me), but others may take 4-6 weeks(like MPlan for me).
Hope this helps...

Hello Tracey,
I have my psych test on Saturday as well at St. Vincent Carmel at 10:00am. I'm going to arrive at 9:00 to take the test.
I have heard the guy who does it is a bit on the odd side.. But I'm just gonna go with the flow, and see how it all happens. I'm hoping it goes well.
I'm still waiting for my letter from Dr. Gupta.. I thought I would had had it by now.. I'm hoping to get it soon. I got my letter from my PCP. and I want to put together a weight chart for Anthem, so I'm trying to pull together some data from doctor's offices. So I guess we'll see how that goes..
What time is your appt on Saturday,, it would be neat to meet someone from this site!!
