Hello, how are you all? I hope doing well. I am just starting this journey, and am glad to find some support and information. My weight now is 288lb. I am hoping to lose about 20 pounds pre-op, to get into better shape for surgery. That's fine because my insurance through state employment requires 6 months supervised diet before they will consider surgery being covered, which I also just started. I have appointments this month for informational sessions with Dr. Inman at St. Vincent's and Dr. Gomez from IU. I am trying to decide who would be better to go with. Linda Vicory

Hi Linda!!! I would highly recommend Dr. Inman. She is the surgeon I had as well as one of my close friends. Both of us have not had problems. She and Carmel St. V's are wonderful! Best wishes on your journey and before you know it....you will be on the losing side! Claudette

Welcome to OH Linda! Congrats on making the decision to go forward! Of the two surgeons you mentioned, I have heard many, many wonderful things about Dr. Inman and from personal exerience, St. V's Carmel is the tops!! I went to an info session with Dr. Gomez with my sister about 4 years ago...we both opted for other surgeons. Guess we just didn't click with him Anyway, come often and feel free to ask questions! There is a whole wealth of information on this site..and on this board...and lots of people who don't mind chiming in (me included..lol). Feel free to browse through our profiles and get to know us! Hi Linda, I had Dr Gomez for my surgery. I had mine done at Wishard. I attend Support Group at Clarion (IU). I think you would be very happy with Dr Gomez. He is also Chief Trama Surgeron at WIshard. How much better can you get than that!

Hi Linda!! I too am a state employee. I work for Revenue. I have Anthem 2 and they were pretty good.I had gone to Dr Piatek for 18 months so they accepted his evaluation and I didnt have to do another 6 months... YEA!!! Good luck with whoever you choose..I know I am extemely happy with the folks at St V Carmel and enjoyed my stay.. Met wonderful life friends walking the halls and here on the board!!
