IRON PROBLEMS?

Is anyone else having problems with their IRON levels, post-op? I never had any health issues prior to surgery, so I am having some minor things going on that are driving me crazy. For about 4-5 months now, they've been trying different pills for me, and each month's labwork comes back lower than the previous one. I'm to the point where they are gonna have me do the iron IV infusions ... (havent had yet) ... and just wondering if anyone else has these problems, or the infusions, and can provide any suggestions and/or advice ... or just a word of encouragement. I had to have the iron infusions for several days after surgery (I lost 5 units of blood). They didn't bother me, but I was on heavy meds at the time! Since then, they've had me on 325 mg of ferrous sulfate twice a day. Good luck, I hope your iron stabalizes soon. Cindy

Thanks! They started me with ferrousequels -- then I went to a brand new iron pill, repliva ... now I am on 325 mg of ferrous sulfate 3 x a day. For the last 2 weeks I have been just exhausted. I get sleep, then I come to work (or go to church on Sunday morning) and feel like I am gonna fall asleep sitting at my desk! I've never had this problem before ... and its not a good feeling. I hate feeling THAT tired so much of the time.
