I know that we have all been praying and wondering what happened to Jennie Biggs who had her WLS in May this year. Mariah and I were talking about her today. Just a few minutes ago I received an email from her husband Tom and gave me a link to their website and tells the entire experience that she has gone thru and still going thru as a result of complications. Rather then trying to paraphrase all of the information, I thought it would be easier to send you the entire link to her update page. You will probably have to copy and paste this link into your browser to get it to come up. This link also has her home phone number and address so we can send cards to her. As you can tell from Tom's post they have both been thru a lot these past several weeks, but have a strong faith in prayer. We will try and get in touch with her or Tom by phone sometime Friday. http://northcc.net/~tombiggs/Surgery.htm Dan

All I can say is Oh My... She has been through so much,, they both have. What a wonderful husband she has to do go through this with her, and be her rock!! It's very scary to see what the surgery can do to a person.. It definately definately makes me think twice about doing this surgery.... Heather

Heather It is scary when one thinks about what could happen. I went thru the same thinking when I was considering the surgery. Things can happen, but I looked at all the things that not could happen but also what was happening with me physically because I weighed 450 lbs. I knew my chances of quality of life were much greater by having the surgery. I have read many more stories about complications from obesity then ever have with the surgery. I have a friend who spent six months in the hospital after his surgery and they gave very little chance of survival, today almost 3 years later his weight has gone from 550 to 195 and he will tell anyone that even if he knew he would have all the complications he had, he definitely would do it all again. That is how much the surgery changed his life. This is why having weight loss surgery is a personal choice and should only be decided upon after research and looking what will happen without the surgery. Weight loss comes with risk, but so does getting in a car and driving down the highway. Dan

Dan, I appreciate your thoughtful words!! I really do!! I hear things and read things on WLS and I get really scared, and worried about this choice, and then the prospect of losing the weight and being a normal "healthy" person flashes in my head, and it changes my mind. I want my things to be so much better, especially for in regards to my 4 year old, and playing on a swings, and everything. I got my bariatric kit / paperwork today in the mail for my consultation on Friday, July 21st. I think that has my mind realing now. I honestly can't wait to talk to Dr. Gupta to see what she has to say... I just wanted to thank you again, and it's really really nice to know there are people out there like you, who are willing to see both the optomistic and pesimistic sides of things. The advocate per say. Thanks again Dan... My thoughts, and my prayers are with you Jennie..... Heather
