No I haven't heard from Jenne, but Mariah if you are basing YOUR surgery on the outcome of another person then maybe you are not ready.. If you look at all the posts on this board of people who have had the surgery, done well or maybe had a few difficulties 99% say they would do it again in a heartbeat. Heck I know people who have had ulcers, scopes etc.. and would STILL do it again... It is ok to be scared of the unknown.. You do not know how you will do.. we are all different but with more education like we get from the classes and from stories of our new friends who have "been there" we know how to handle the difficulties we will face.. Just think of y our choices... pick the best option for you... I DO CARE!! You must face this with your eyes wide open.. Personally I had no other choice... I was 300 pounds and would die of heart attack or stroke because the weight pressing on my heart made it sooo hard to breathe.. I wheezed everytime I walked a few steps.. going to the bathroom wore me out.. Now I have a life. friends and a future I can live anyway I choose.. I am personally glad I made the choice. Linda

Mariah, READ MY PROFILE. To go along with what Linda said, after 15 scopes, 2 ulcers, 2 perforations, 12 strictures, a revision, and surgery for 2 internal hernias & a 3rd site for scar tissue, I would do it again without a second thought! You are assuming Jenne is having problems. Maybe her problems are PC related and not WLS related. I can think of SO many reasons why one would quit posting. Shoot, maybe she's being active on a different site. We aren't the only WLS site..and we aren't the only site for hoosiers (but I DO believe we are the best ..jk for those from other sites reading this). Word of mouth goes pretty good on here when a brother or sister are having major problems. You could always go to Jenne's profile & send her an email. Do this surgery you do for YOU. Plain and simple. If you go into it with the idea that you are doing because so & so wants you to or because so & so had it, then you're setting yourself up for a rude awakening. Here's how I see WLS.... 1. This, I did for ME. No one else but ME. 2. Yes, there are complications that COULD happen...but if I didn't have the surgery (and until the time I did have it), complications from obesity was a DEFINATE. 3. Some people aren't successful with this surgery because they never got the idea that it was a TOOL, NOT a cure-all. 4. Some people don't treat their tool correctly and end up having problems. Sometimes, the tool decides it needs special care above & beyond what other people's tools need. Hope this helps... Sherri

Sherri and Linda pretty much said it all. I just wanted to add one experience I had from the pre op class. Linda was sitting next to me and was there as a support person for her friend Teresa. Linda was overweight (probably 200-225) and was doing Weigh****chers herself. We talked after class and she said that if she had been thinking of surgery she would have backed out after learning all we did in the class. I told her that that was because she hadn't done the research before hand and if she was truely to the point of being ready for surgery the class wouldn't change her mind. The class is very blunt and they tell you everything. ANY question or doubt you have ASK. If you have a question chances are someone else does also. It's all about being prepared and ready for this surgery. I never did get nervous or scared before surgery and I believe it was because I was so prepared. It has just been five months since my surgery and I feel like a new person already. I want to shout to the world how much having this surgery has helped me. OH, the other gal. I keep intouch with Linda by e-mail. Teresa never was able to have her surgery. First due to anemia then she went into renal failure and had to go on dialysis. She waited to long on her decision to have surgery and now she probably will never be able to. I also met a young man the day of the pre-op class that was having surgery the same day I was. We keep in touch and compare progress notes. I have post op pictures of the two of us in my scrap book. I hope to see him at the St.V Christmas party this year and get another photo to go with it. Good luck tomorrow

I like to think she is just too busy being fabulous and getting healthy! I am sure if there were serious complications we would have heard something through the grapevine. Good Luck at your class and don't forget to tell me all about it!! Sam

ahhhhh ///don't be scared....ed with all his problems says he is glad he did it....(and i was sure thinking he would never say that) i have to give him juices and things with calories cos he is now under 220 and he does not need to lose more so i give him calories and it has not helped....when the dietican finds out she will kick his butt she says he should be 200 i am sure he will surely gain back some cos he is too thin...it is like being with a whole new man....it is like where did eddie go? i felt at 235 he needed to maintain...and she said NO he needs to be 200.....i sure had no problems with being below goal as i never reached goal not to say i won't just have not.... i bet she is living life as many do once they have the surgery, or maybe computer problems as well...

Hugssssssss Girl , I know your scared but it will be ok .. we are getting are surgery the same day and you better believe we are going to be just fine .. I'm nervous I think about the odd things not the actual surgery -- I'm nervous about ( the BAD GAS pains lol that just kinda freaks me , as well as the anesthesia , that always make me sick to my tummy like I been ridden a roller coaster all darn day .. those are the silly things I know but its what freaks me out .... As for Jenne I'm sure she's fine , heck if my surgery goes ok I wont want to be on the pc ill be out walking and doing things to help the weight fly off . just think positive and everything will be fine . You have came so far , we are on 3rd base and in 15 days we are sliding into home .. so we can sit on the looser bench .. Big super hugs ~ Jenn p.s. email me if you need to talk , I'm always here =]

Mariah, I think everyone is a little scared to go through this type of surgery. I know I'm still in the preliminary stages of this whole thing, and at this point would give anything to be as far as you are right now.... Keep your chin up, and just think of how absolutely wonderful you'll feel in no time!! I know that is what is keeping me going!!! ;-)

Hi Mariah I hope Jenne is ok. I have a friend who lost his uncle with this surgery. But everyone is different you know that. I would say you nerves are getting the best of you. I will say a prayer for you and Jenne. You will go through your ups and downs but make sure you are doing what is right for you! Teresa

Mariah I tried to find Jennie in the phone book but I do not remember her husbands name. She does not live right here in Kokomo, but in Converse. I went back thru my emails I received from her and none of them had a phone number. I also looked to see if she mentioned what church she attends, but nothing. I was going to call her pastor. I am not giving up, will try and find out if anyone I know has heard anything about her. It could be that her computer is down. I use to get emails from her about every other day. Dan
