Supplement?
I'm going to be having surgery pretty soon and was just wondering what types of supplements everyone uses? Before and after surgery. I've heard people talk of Biotin & B12 thats about it. Is that all?
Also is there anything special to take with me to the hospital or it is close to what you would take with any surgery?
TIA
Tina
I also know St. Vincents wants you to take a chewable multivitamin (Flintstones etc.) and a calcium citrate (NOT carbonate) supplement (Viactiv chews etc.) I think B1 is also recommended....I'll find out more when I got to the pre-op nutrition class I'm sure. I'm going to have surgery soon too! We can be surgery buddies!!

In addition to what Samantha passed on you have to also do B-12 either by pills or shots. I had my surgeon give me a prescription for the shots. My wife gives them to me in the back of the arm once a month. You can also give them to yourself. It beats remembering the pills and does not hurt.
I have some friends in Santa Claus, Wilbur and Carol Henderson. They live in the gated community around the lake.
Wishing you all the best with your upcomming surgery. What is the date your having it.

Wow... Santa Clause Indiana. I grew up at the Methodist Camp Ground area. There use to be a big grey house on the corner by the church. Shoot.. I can't remember the hwy names, but anyway the house was either torn down or it burned I can't remember. I lived there when I was 3-5 years old. I love those memories!
I take Biotin, B-1, Calcium, multivitimin started with liquid from GNC moved up after 6 months to CVS tablets with iron (they melt in 1 ounce of water in 5 minutes) B-12 2x a week sublingual..(Mondays and Thursdays) Worse thing about taking pills is I have to break them in !/2 because I am a baby....I choke on big pills...
Tina, Just a day or two ago Sam posted for a link to the yellow pages. Dan and other posted a link to them. I printed them out at work last night but I left them there. Will get them when I go in tonight. However, one of the pages was all about the vitamins required by St. V. I dont remember where u are having your surgery done but it might behove you to read those pages on that link if u want to know more about vitamins and whats going to be required of you after surgery. I knew most of it from all the boards but it was nice to refresh my memory and to learn a few new things too. Good Luck Mariah
