NEWBIE/prior fundoplication surgery
Finally got my approval from mplan. I had my psych test last Wednesday and I see my surgeon on Thursday. Hoping everything will go well and their will be no more stumbling blocks. I do have some concern because I had Nissen Fundoplication surgery a few years ago. They tell me in order to do an RNY, they will have to undo the fundoplication. That's even if it is possible. Ive heard it depends on the amount of scar tissue. Wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience.

I also had the Nissen surgery in 1999. I am having surgery G.B. on Thursday. It will be my doctors first. I am a bit scared as is he. Well, he said he is trying to figure at the best way to do it. He will be undoing my Nissen and then proceeding. He hopes it will be done laproscopically, but is doubtful. I will let you know how it works out. Please keep me in your prayers.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers throughout.....I did go see my surgeon and he is willing to try to do the surgery. He says he will also have to undo the fundoplication first and it will just depend on the amount of scar tissue I have. He wants to do mine open so that he can get a good look around. I am also a little scared, but I do have confidence in my surgeon. I researched him well before I ever talked to him. Plus he works at the same hospital I do. I really don't think he would put me at any additional risk if he didn't feel pretty confident he could do it. Please let me know how things work out for you. I will be waiting to hear how your feeling. I know you will be fine and may God guide your surgeons hands. Hope we can become friends. I come up your way quite often in the summer. Love to go to the lake.....Talk to you soon.
