Stalled...i think.
The weight loss has stalled once again. I have heard people talk about plateaus and i hit one about 4 weeks like everyone said but im guessing im at another.
Been stuck at the same weight for over a week and havent changed anything. I had the ulcer scare week before the stall but im guessing that it does not have anything to do with it.
One thing that im concearned about is that im using alot of mayo (low fat) in my diet for ive found it easier to make chicken or ham saled as my two ounces of protein instead of ejust eating the chicken or the ham. I even through in some eggs to the ham saled for that extra shot of protein.
Feeling fine and down 70 pounds.....Troy
Troy,
Try not to worry about it. I doubt that you are really using as much light mayo as you think. After all, you are only eating 2 oz of meat, how much mayo can you stand on it. Even if you load it down, it's only 2 oz of meat.
There are a couple of other reasons why you might not show any weight loss. You could be constipated. From some of the messages I have read (and my own experience), it is a common experience at first. That will temporarily counter act (on the scale at least) any weight loss.
Plus, if you are working out at all (walking, excercise bike, whatever) you are working, and probably building, muscles. Plus, you've lost a lot of weight in not very much time. Your body may just be using this time to readjust to its lighter self.
Try to relax and trust the surgery to do what was promised. Keep moving as much as you can and stick to your dietician's recommendations. If you haven't already, touch base with him or her. Maybe you need to change things up a bit. If you are like me, you may have fallen into a rut of eating the same few things over and over again because you know how to eat it comfortably and you've already figured out how it fits into your nutritional requirements. Maybe your body is waiting on something new. I'm not sure how far out you are (I am right at 8 weeks), but I've found tha****ermelon goes down very easily. It has a lot of fluid and it isn't high in calories or sugar. Give yourself a little bit as a treat and get the extra fluids in the easy way. I'm sure you will start losing again soon.

well, im sticking to what the doc and dietician told me. Normal St. V's diet sheet plus two 12 oz glasses of milk and a south beach bar(19 grams protein) daily. the milk and the bar were to replace the shakes that they started me on when i came home after surgery.
As far as exercise, i walk a mile after lunch and a mile after dinner. Im shopping for a bike as I feel that i can get more from a bike than walking. I'm still losing inches and i can see that althugh ive not been tracking it. My belt is getting holes drilled into it weekly and that is my proof that im losing.
I once wore a 54 and started this deal at a tight 48, my 46's are falling off of me now and im sure a 42 would be snug but comfortable.
Thanks for the help.
Troy,
I went through many mini-stalls. A true plateau lasts at least 6 weeks. Mini-stalls are just the body's way of catching up. Are you measuring yourself? If not, do. When you are building up muscles, you lose inches even if you don't lose pounds. Muscles are more dense than fat. For instance, you may have a 40" waist, lose 5 pounds of fat, but replace it with 5 lbs of muscle, and end up with a 38" waist...but weigh the same amount because you exchanged the fat for muscle. Yes, we all want to lose the pounds, but it's very important to gain the muscles along the way. We need to look at it that losing is losing, rather if pounds OR inches.
Myself, I've been bouncing around the same weight (180 +/- 3 pounds) since the end of January. Definitely a plateau weight-wise...but I've lost ~8" and have gone from a 14 to a 10/12.
