Who had surgery covered in the past two years?

Hey all- If you don't mind sharing I'd like to see a list of employers who have covered WLS in the past two years. I'm getting a list together to share with my employer. Thanks for your feed back. Traci

Mine was thru Dekalb County Government. I was approved in Dec of 05. In January of 06 they made the surgery unavailable from now on. I intend to write the County commissioners when I've lost 100 pounds to try to convince them that the surgery is an improtant tool in wt loss and that it can save them money in the long run. I feel blessed that I was able to get mine approved before it was made unavailable. They will cover nothing related to diet and wt. loss now. I almost feel guilty for having it done just under the wire and feel bad for those who would benifit from it now but can't have it.

Safeco Insurance Company using Blue Cross/Blue Shield of California PPO. Several co-workers have had it here, I can think of over 6 alone plus talking to other people they know of people too.

I work for U.S. Customs & Border Protection. Just had surgery 4/7. It is my understanding that federal insurers are required by our contracts to cover wls. Good luck with yours. Cindy

I work for ISTA Financial Services Program. We provide insurance coverage to many different school corporations. I am covered thru my employer ISTA with ISTA Insurance.
