Question of sorts

So I called my old PCP to get a copy of medical records because I know I had talked to her about weight loss etc. Well I paid to get a copy of my records etc. So they come in the mail today and they only date back to 2002?! I have been going there since way before that. Is there some kind of records retention thing I am not aware of? I wanted to ask before I called and got all crabby with them. Slowly working on compiling my packet to send to insurance. Hopefully good things will come out of my organizational skills! Sam

Sam the problem may be that they changed over computer system and they didnt put stuff into the new system or it could be that the computer system delites stuff so far back. lisa b

Medical Records and X Rays have to be kept for at least 5 years....I know every 5 years I can go tot he hospital and pick up any test results I have had in that time. Sometimes they get tired of copying..think that is all you need.. Dont get crabby just ask if they copied all your records. Linda
