Waiting to Hear from Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal

Papers were sent in on April 24th and when I called on May 4th to see what the sataus was on my receiving approval for the surgery they informed me that they did not have any papers from the Dr.'s office yet. I called the Dr.'s office and ask them to resend the file and send it certified so that they can trace it if it is not received again. I want to return a call to them later this week to find out something. They told me earlier now that it might take 3-4 weeks longer. I am so down and feeling very blue and wondering if I'm ever going to get through this. I now have other problems that may require hospitalization here at home.........so, needless to say, I am really depressed. I keep telling myself "good things come to those who wait". Virginia..... Drive them crazy, that is what I did! I kept a copy of everything that they needed submitted and mailed it to every office and also faxed it to every office. Someone had to get it eventually. Then I started to call them daily. Sounds like drastic measures but I had to go through the "we don't have it", "we don't know anything yet", "it's been sent for review" etc etc etc. After everyone and their brother has the request and I call enough it was amazing how quick I got the approval!!! Ginny, If you have had new problems crop up that require hospitalization n ow beofre surgery then maybe waiting a little for approval is a good thing.. Yep good things come to those who wait. But taking care of business is a good thing too. We want you your healthiest for this surgery.. because once you have it there will be no slowing you down after. Linda

Many thanks to all of you for your support. That really helps. I really felt that I was bugging them to death but after reading from all of you I think that is what we have to do. I will try again this week and hope that they have at least received the papers. More later.
