You're welcome--Thank you! I was in a some of a same way as you were, at that point I narrowed down to the Lap Band and one other to choose from and at that time I think that Dr. Nagle wanted to do the RNY on me, but I gave him a surgery report from a surgery that I had done and 2 years before (hernia surgery) and from that surgery report Dr. Nagle went with the VSG surgery on me and it's the best thing for me, but some of that weight did come back on in which is my fault, now I'm working on it to take off that weight that I've put on, sorry to hear that you gained half of that weight back and about you diabetes. As I am with Dr. Nagle and his honesty and the decision. Cool.

I will, you too take care.

Thanks so much for the info--glad to hear you are doing well! Before my DS. I met with Dr. Nagle regarding the RNY (before I knew about the DS) and he assured me that I would lose all of my excess weight with the RNY but gain half of it back within a few years and that my diabetes would return. I truly appreciated his honesty...definitely influenced my decision. I will have my neighbor check him out.

Take care,

Nicolle

Good day everyone,

I've noticed that a lot whenever I'm on this site, it's not only this forum, but on other forums too. I guess the persons look at the "Heading" then enter the post and look around and I guess the person would read the post for advice and/or something else and others I guess they are called "lurkers", some had said that they lurk on the forums when the person(s) finally post something in the post. I've notice that there use to be lots of post back in the past. I guess the ones use to post on this site no longer do for some reason and other just lurk or something, who knows why there don't post.

Sounds like you're doing good.

Same here on some days in what I should do, I just play it by ear for each day in what I'll be doing for each day.

I do have a hernia surgery date for June 19, 2015 that needs to be repaired. Also I have an appointment with my joint replacement doctor to set-up for a left hip replacement surgery about 6 weeks after I have my hernia surgery. I can't wait to get this year over with! I've been busy off & on this year.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Nicolle,

Wow 7 years ago! In about 2.5 weeks from now it'll be 5 years ago since I had the VSG. I had the VSG done by Dr. Alexander P. Nagle at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and I'm doing great. He's really good, he takes time into your care, needs, health, concerns, etc.... I had an appointment with him the other day and I told him what's going on with me and he checked me out and he told me that I have a hernia and he set me up a surgery date so he can do the repair. You can tell your friend about Dr. Nagle and check out his profile if your friend read his profile. I'm satisfied with him and his team.

Hope this helps you and your friend out some.

Hello everyone

Lisa, maybe we seem very intimidating....LOL!!!

It was very weird being in that big house by myself.  I mean I am used to being in apartments by myself.  I don't know why size would matter.  Of course I haven't lived in a house since I was a kid.

I also had to put the heat back on.  It got down to 68 in the house and I got too cold.  It will be nice when I can just leave that heat off for good.

I have tried to incorporate his things/taste into the house.  I am so used to just taking over and doing things my way.  And he is a guy, with a guy's way of thinking when it comes to decorating.  So I do not to come out and say "um...no that is ugly".  We have compromised with things.  Like the master bedroom and bathroom.  He has this thing with the color black???  His apartment...I am not kidding was all black.  Black black black!!!!  I said we can't have black and just black.  I will feel like I am living in funeral home.  So I suggested Gray with complementing colors to brighten it up.  Which of course he didn't understand...LOL.  But he agreed.  So our bedroom is gray and white and the bathroom is gray and blue.  So it's not too masculine and not too feminine.  And we both agreed to hang up black and white photos from our different vacations...as artwork.  But all and all I do think I have successfully made sure Greg's things and mementos are placed throughout the house.  I wanted to make sure people know he lives there too.  I think he is very happy.

Anyway...back to work I go.   Have a good day all.

Thanks, Lisa! I will. Yes, 7 years--I usually forget that I have had bariatric surgery most days. I am still very grateful for this second chance at life, but the how and whys of it are slipping away to just an event in my past.

Best of luck to you!

Nicolle

Hi All,

I have a question. I am wondering why we have so many people reading our posts, but they never come in and post themselves? Please join us. We really are nice people who would welcome each and everyone of you. When I started coming in here, we had usually 20 to 25 post a day from different men and women. I would love to see this again.

I am in the process of steam cleaning my kitchen tile. It is looking good.

Otherwise, nothing is happening here, Hubert is off today and not sure what weare doing.

Have a great day,

Hugs,

Lisa

Hi Nicole,

Has it been 7 years for you? Wow, where has time gone. I would still say that Dr. Guske and the Kane Center is still one of the best. Tell your friend to go to one of their info meetings and talk to them.

Hi, everyone! I used to be on OH often a few years ago. I had the DS 7 years ago, lost and kept off 190 pounds and eat pretty much everything I want. I am still a big proponent of that particular surgery (and surgeon, but he is in California), but I know it is not for everyone.

In fact, I have been talking to a neighbor (in Chicago) about the VSG, which I think might be a better fit for her.  To help her, I wanted to ask for your recommendations on a Chicago-area VSG surgeon who has many satisfied patients with long-term success (3+ years of keeping the excess weight off). One who offers good aftercare and support groups would be ideal.

A friend's adult son had a VSG with Dr. Guske, but he is still just 18 months out, so they are reluctant to give a thumbs up quite yet, although they have been very happy so far.

If you could give me some guidance, I would appreciate it!

Thanks,

Nicolle

Another cool day. I want to open the pool, but with the temps this cool, it isn't worth it. I am going to try to get Hubert to go to American Sales in Joliet tomorrow. We need a new pool cover and a new solar cover. The pool cover is a 5 to 7 year replacement, and the solar cover should last about the same. Other then we bought it 3 years ago and Hubert, in his know it all additude, left it on the deck all winter. Needless to say, when I tryed to move it yesterday, it shredded.

I did get some really neat sandals yesterday. One pair is a knockoff of the Birkie ones, and the other is a flower print with ankle straps and jewels. Not that I needed them, but a girl can always use another pair  sandals.

Today is just doing some little things, , inside, that need to be done.

Have a good day.

Hugs,

Lisa
