Cut the hard ends off the Okra. Put them on a foil in a cookie sheet. Spray with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt. Roast at 400 for 115 minutes depending on size of okra. I tend to buy the smallest ones possible. I also roast most veggies the same way--especially thin sliced eggplant and thin sliced Brussels sprouts. It changes the taste of these incredibly.

Happy Sunday,
It is not suppose to rain until late tonight or tomorrow. I am good with that since the kids are here to help Hubert with the basement steps. The girls just went out to Walmart to do some shopping, and I am finishing the prep for lunch.
Crystal, your day at the beach sounds like alot of fun.
Nancy, we have had alot of weird expenses this summer too. My dryer is making a weird noise, and Hubert said it sounds like it may be going out. We have had it forever, so if it does, it doesn't owe us anything. (plus the AC repair and the new water heater). Also when on vacation, we had to order a new frig for one of our places.
Christine, you are always so organized. I think that comes from having a job and limited time to do stuff. I know it seems that I get a lot more done when I am working.
Jessica, you are one day closer to the new you.
Sharon?
Dawn, I love your beach pictures. Have a safe trip home.
I am going to go to hull some strawberries to go with angle food cake and cool whip for an easy dessert for today.
Have a great day.
Hugs,
Nancy,
Thank you, I'm glad too. I'm planning on an escape just an case if they don't let me out and if comes to that you can me out with plan B and so on.
I might have to do that if it comes to that. Indeed on rounding up the gang . Need to put on my thinking cap and I might do all what you have said .
Just doing what I need to do to get out of there and go back home. I'm praying that I go home this coming week (wish me luck).
You got that right that I'm anxious in going home, I can't wait. I'm been out longer than this once before the first time around. Wow! Really? I know what's that like not being home that long, I hope all went well for you when you had your back surgery. True that about the bed. I hope so too, thank you.
Have a great day.

Looks a little wonky out there with the weather. The clouds out there yesterday caused the air show to not have all of the high acts and O'Hare restricted their air space because they were using it with take offs. Dave is a private pilot so he listens to all of the air control, TV and radio broadcasts at the same time. Drives me nuts but I just straightened up the house. He was watching live internet and listening to WBBM FM (yes, FM 105.9) for the majority of the info.
I got all the laundry washed yesterday except for the sheets which will done this morning. The other stuff just needs to be popped into the dryer for about five minutes to take the wrinkles out and then I will hang it outside on the line. During the drying time I will do some vacuuming and dusting then sometime during the day the flowers and vegs need to be watered. Somewhere during that time I will continue to organize Alaska and other pictures on the 'puter. I ordered two terabyte (1 TB each) external hard drives to store the photos. I eventually will start shooting the pictures in RAW format instead of jpeg. RAW takes up a lot more file space then jpeg. That much space will probably last us for several years even at the rate I am going with taking pictures. I finally started deleting bad photos even though it bugged me to do it. To me it is almost like throwing away a physical paper picture.
Well, finished my java now off to start hanging laundry and B-fast.

Hello everyone
We had a great time yesterday. And Christine we were very lucky we did not have to worry about food or water. We (meaning Greg, me and his family....yes I met his family). We were at the Oak Street Beach restaurant and they had a VIP section on the patio section and there was unlimited drinks and food. I had my fill of iced tea!!! It was actually very nice. I sipped on iced tea from under an umbrella and ate a nice lunch....right on the beach. I can't even imagine how much this cost. But it was awesome. When we were done we walked over to Cheesecake Factory and I finally had a piece of their cake. And I have to say without being too immodest or boasting....but my cheesecake is better...hahaha!!!!! I guess I really could sell my cheesecake.
In the morning we took the train and we got to Chicago so early and it was so beautiful outside we decided to walk to the beach from the station. I thought why not take a stroll to the beach and see the city. And plus you can all the shops on Michigan Ave. and it was early enough it wasn't all crowded yet. So it was really enjoyable and we got some exercise in.
Afterwards we were pooped. I got home and watched a movie and went to sleep.
Today I am cleaning and doing laundry. Generally getting things ready for Amanda's visit. I can't wait. She will be here in 3 days!!! Woohoo!!! Tomorrow I will go do groceries and get things for her while she is here. And what she doesn't eat she can take with her for her long car trip to Washington. So they don't have to stop to eat as much. So I will purposely over buy.
What are you guys up to today???
Well back to enjoying my Sunday morning. Have a wonderful day all....
Jason
I am so glad you are doing so well. Now about that escape plan, if you need a quick get a way and cant saddle your then you may have to figure out a plan B
You may have to call in the reinforcements Round up a gang Put on your thinking
cap Plot with another "inmate" text for help Plead your case to
the nurses list all the reasons you are ready to go home throw a temper tantrum
Hold your breath until you get your way Make them think you are crazy
create a disguise act like an angel be a star in PT Pray
flirt with all of the pretty nurses and if all else fails, just casually walk out of the place
I know you are anxious to get home! I cannot imagine not being home for a month. I could not stand 3 weeks gone when I had back surgery. Nothing is better than your own bed. I hope you get sprung this week!

I would stick only to the jello juices, shakes and popsicles. Two things really saved me during my liquid diet. I have become a popsicle junkie and hot tea took that edge off when I wanted something extra. Also I found that taking the vegetable stock and chicken stock and mixing them together made a much better liquid soup. It was much more flavorful than either alone. I just mixed it half and half. Good Luck! The first 3 days are the hardest and after that it was not bad at all! I just kept telling myself that I did not want my surgery to be an open surgery but I wanted it to be laproscopic. Open surgery is definitely a 6 Week recovery period where laproscopic is a lot easier and faster. I have had both and give me laproscopic any day! I had years of pain from scar tissue from my open gallbladder susgery that required additional procedures and injections and treatments and tests to identify where the pain was coming from.

Jason, I agree with you, it doesn't seem that it has been a month already. You are sounding good and I hope you do get out of the hospital shorty. You always do better when you in your place.
Hugs.
Happy Saturday Everyone!
I have been a HUGE MIA lately. I am so sorry. Work has been incredibly busy. I get home at night and just collapse. They have let a lot of people go and it is taking its toll on the rest of us. The call volume is insane and all of the email and fax orders are now being outsourced to India and that is not going well and customers are not happy which makes out days even more difficult because we get to soothe ruffled feathers and irate customers. Plus the company expects us to create white wash which does not sit well with me at all. This makes for some very interesting times as I try to skirt around the truth without lying because I refuse to do that. Customers deserve more respect than that. On top of that customers are getting more snarly by the day. Fun, fun fun, NOT Plus changes are happening by the minute and no one knows what is going on and even when you do, that changes before you can grasp what that change is. Of course, the peons are the last to get wind of anything but we are the ones on the front lines and the ones that need to know. Go figure.
On the home front, life has been a money pit. My ho****er heater went out a couple of weeks ago. So I have had to replace the freon in my ac and pay a repair bill in one month and buy a new ho****er heater in the next month. Then the microwave went out. I sent Rick out to buy a replacement. Big mistake. Like a typical guy, bigger is better. We went from a 1.4 cubic foot microwave to a 2.4 cubic microwave. This thing is HUGE and has all the bells and whistles on it. Granted, he does the cooking, but it is more an industrial microwave than a home one. Men! I could not believe it.
This weekend, I am kicking back and relaxing. My only project is to install a new set of phone. The old set is on its last legs.
I will try to get on more often.
Have a great weekend!
