Hello everyone
Is it Summer yet???
I have nothing going on today. I am supposed to go to the gym but I have no motivation. It's so cold.
On the bright side I am happy about a sweater I found on Ebay. It's from the Gap. I really loved this sweater last year but didn't buy because it was $65. I found it on Ebay yesterday for $12....yay me.
I was planning on decorating the family room and I ask Greg what do you want the colors to be? The sectional is brown so how does brown and blue. He says...we have to have another color? I said...you can't have all brown it will be to dark and boring, we need some color. Men...
I am making turkey meatloaf today. I was going to make it yesterday but plans changed. I found a recipe that you make this turkey meatloaf and top it with gravy instead of catsup. So it tastes like thanksgiving...I hope it comes out good.
When I say that Greg says oh it will. And I say you never know it has nothing to do with how good you make something...it might be a bad recipe.
Well time to get back to work...stay warm and dream of Summer
Another blast of Artic air will be holding us tight today. I really agree with you Dawn, I hate winter.
Crystal, Enjoy your new furniture. I love leather furniture. I have had my recliners for 5 years, and do not intend to ever go back to cloth. One hint. They will wear where your head hits. I keep a thin throw over the back rest to keep this from happening.
I am working until 1 today. Hubert and I both have appointments with an eye specialist today.
Try to stay warm, Hugs,
Good morning Lisa and the rest of Illinois!
I am nice and warm. a BIG advantage to working at a day care....the heat needs to be on. at my last job, I had to wear 3-4 layers and I had a blanket and gloves and I was still cold. (This is no exaggeration.) Today, I have an extra layer on my legs and a fashion scarf over my sweater and am perfectly comfortable.
I spent the day in Madison while Todd attended the Beer and Cheese festival. I was SO excited. "Room", was playing, so I went. It is still limited release and not available everywhere. I listened to the book twice in the Fall and loved it. I HIGHLY recommend both. Of course I loved the book more because there is more detail, but the movie stayed pretty true to the source. The book is written from the five year old's point of view and it is eye opening.
I also went to Joe's and St. Vinny's on Willy Street. I picked Todd up and we went to dinner. I should have taken him straight home but he wanted food. We were home by 9:30.
Yesterday I did something I haven't done in years........I stayed in my PJs all day! I finished the book I was reading and cooked a nice dinner.
Today, back to work and a chiro appointment then home to burrow in again. I HATE this weather.
Everyone have a great day!
Hello everyone
We had a busy Saturday. We drove out to Wisconsin for Greg's family's reunion. His brother works for the US Army in Kosovo (he's not military...he's a civilian worker). He is on a two week leave and is visiting. I guess the perk is that you get paid pretty well and the cost of living is next to nothing so you basically bank 90% of what you make. I still wouldn't do it....but you know he signed up for another 2 years.
Yesterday we went furniture shopping. We are finally going to buy a new sectional for the family room. It will be so nice to get rid of that old piece of crap. It sounds weird but we found a really nice leather set from Sears. At first I was resistant to checking out Sears...they aren't exactly known for their furniture. But they have a really nice leather sectional with power recliners. Oh and we are getting a coffee table and end table and lamps.
We also went to the movies to see Star Wars....I was freezing the whole time. You would think considering that it was below zero outside the theater would crank up the heat a little...nope. We go to this theater in Wheaton that serves dinner while you watch the movie. We always get a Groupon and it's $5 a ticket.
Today I have to work but it will be a long boring day. The banks are closed and I get my work from the bank. My main job is to apply the cash we receive from the bank. No cash from the bank...no work. So I will be twiddling my thumbs.
Well back to not working and looking busy...have good day...stay warm.
Please be sure and bundle up if you are going outside this morning. It is cold out there.
We had a very quiet weekend. In fact, I think this is the first weekend since before Thanksgiving, that we had no plans other then going out for dinner on Friday. None for the coming weekend either.
I am off today for MLK day. That makes a 2 day workweek for me. I am not complaining.
What is on your mind today?
Hugs,
Good Morning,
I had compleatly forgotten that I am off work on Monday, due to MLK birthday.
Anyone else off work too?
It is going to be a quiet weekend for us. We have no plans what so ever. Hubert goes back to work tomorrow, after his vacation. But then he is off Monday for his regular day off.
What is everyone doing on this cold weekend?
Stay safe, Hugs,
Hello everyone
There is always drama surrounding this whole thing with Greg's parents. It's like the worst possible things a person could go through and it's happening all at once. They are losing their house and Greg's dad is still recuperating from the brain bleed. Today is the day the estate sale people come in and get things situated and organized. And Greg's mom is very exhausted...trying to nurse her husband and take care of things. We told her to sit back and let the estate sale people take care of things from here....let them earn their money (they make 40% of the total sold).
I think the sale is the weekend of the 23rd. I think. I will have to confirm this weekend.
I think the bank might give them till the end of February to get out of the house, considering the issues with Greg's dad. Otherwise they are out by the 31st. Thank God they have a wonderful place in the Cayman's to go to. I hear it's very pretty down there. I am almost envious of them. Leaving this wintery crappy weather to live there.
I am glad your party went over well. Sorry to hear about your Arthritis. In the neck to...sounds like a bad place to have it.
Nancy- Looks like I will be in your neck of the woods again. For Valentines day...well a week early to beat the rush. Greg is taking me to a cabin near Starved Rock (I say near not the Starved Rock cabins). Then on Sunday he said we can go for brunch at the Starved Rock restaurant...he said they have a really good brunch. The cabin has a fireplace and a whirlpool tub...sounds nice and cozy.
Well time to get back to work....have a good day all
Crystal, please let us know when the sale is.
Dawn, I am trying to get motivated too.
I am trying to recuperate from the weekend. Pictures are posted on my home page of Facebook. Because of the weather, everyone couldn't make it, but it was a good turnout.
I came home on Sunday with a really stiff and sore neck. Went to the Doc's on Monday, got xrays, and found out I have severe Artritis. I am sorting out some options for the care of this new drama.
Off to work. Have a great day.
Hugs,
Hello everyone
I spent the whole day helping Greg's mom get her house ready for the estate sale. I was up in attic most of the day getting stuff out. It was also dusty and my allergies were a mess. I actually felt like I was getting sick. I was stuffy, my throat and head hurt and my ears felt plugged up. I woke up this morning feeling fine. It was all that dust. It got me feeling that bad.
My feet were sore too. Greg rubbed my feet and legs last night. It felt so good. I fell right to sleep.
Greg spent the day replacing light fixtures. She has really nice antique fixtures she wants to sell. Greg was replacing them with less expensive (nice...but not antiques) from Home Depot fixtures. We have to go back Sunday to help with the paintings. She's a painter...she has literally 100 or more paintings that need to be sold. So we have to go back and price these and hang them.
Ugh...On the good side I saw a bunch of Greg's stuff from when he was growing up. It was adorable. His mom gave me his baby book...it was hilarious to read. She found some old savings bonds of Greg's. Not worth lots of money but hey enough to have a very very nice Valentines.
Dawn- Good luck on your weight loss. I did pretty good on mine.
Well back to work. See ya
Good morning Illinois!
I just stopped in to check on you all and I see we have all been busy. I know Lisa has been busy celebrating 50 years of marriage.
I had a good weekend, Riley was over.
I broke down and bought a couple of pairs of new pants for work. After wearing a pair for the evening on Saturday, I thought I might need to take them back and get a bigger size. THEN........I woke up to the fact that I have a tool and need to USE it. So. Back. On. Track. began yesterday. I did pretty well, but had some crackers last night, which set off cravings for more. At least I didn't eat garbage all day. I made chilli and a pork roast, sugar free jello and pudding. These are all good for me foods to have on hand for eating/snacking. I have Greek yogurt also. I KNOW how to do this, I just need to DO it.
So....here's to losing regain.
Everyone have a great day!
