I have been researching and wanting RNY surgery for a couple years now. I was looking to have it done with insurance provided by my job but unfortunately I lost my job due to injury. I just recently started receiving public aid medical assistance and I have heard of people getting this done with that. I live in Northern IL but would go anywhere actually, but does anyone know of DR's and Hospital's that will accept public aid for this surgery. Jen

Jen I have a list of surgeons on my profile. I dont have a complete list but its a good start. Keep in mind many Public aid surgeons limit how many they do a month since they only get paid $700 bucks by public aid for the surgery. Good Luck

My mother-in-law and I both were approved under Il Dept of Public Aid. Our surgeon was Dr John Alverdy at U of C. Approval was within 2 weeks. I had no mandatory testing prior to surgery. My mom in law did because she is over 50. We weren't treated any different. I actually was denied thru my First Health plan thru my job.

Thank you also for the response. I have made the call to U of C and of course I got a voice mail. I was told I have to register at remedymd.com by another OH member but I am unable to log in so I called on that too. I too was denied by my health care provider via work. I read your page and the info was great although your pictures aren't working for some reason but it doesn't matter about appearance as much as feeling good does it? Boy I hope this will work for me!! Thanks again!
