Had RNY LAP with Dr Marshall in Aug. 2001. (Peoria Surgical Group) The past year or so I have been gaining (50lbs as of today) I am wondering about SLD. Has any of his patients here had this problem? Wondering what I should do? Does anyone know if BCBS Illinois PPO will pay for revision? Thanks

Hi Sue ... sorry I can't help you ... and 50 pounds in a year does seem like a bit. Have you noticed anything different (like not getting full no matter how much you eat)? What's your diet like? Are you exercising? I had a 20 pound gain in a 10 month period ... but I've come to the conclusion it was mostly carbs and little protein, and no exercise. By the way, what is SLD? I do have BC/BS of IL PPO, but I have no clue if they'd pay for the revision ... I would think they would if its medically necessary, but who knows with insurance these days? I would definitely contact the doc, and then maybe go for a second opinion. Wish I could help you more! Good luck ... and please keep us posted ... many can benefit from your experience. Karyn

Karyn, Thanks for your reply. I also assume that if a revision is medically necessary they would pay, but who knows.... SLD is staple line disruption. When the staples come apart or get loose. Thanks again, Sue
