Compassionate physician needed!

My son is 5'6" weighs 425. He was working on loosing weight when he started having severe back pain. He found out he has two bulging discs in his back. His wife got his x-rays and sent them to an othopedist who told him he wouldn't help him. Does anyone know of a compassionate physician who is not prejudiced. He needs an orthopedist in the Chicagoland area. He lives in Zion, Illinois which is about 50 miles north of downtown Chicago and 30 south of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is in considerable pain. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

They should contact their local hospital(s) and have the hospital send them a printed list of physicians that practice out of that hospital. And some hospitals also have a service on their web sites for the person to search for a doctor via the internet.

Jill, Before my surgery, I had sciatica which had me in constant pain. I heard about Dr. Fred Sweet, a spinal surgeon who had just come to Rockford. He outlined some options for me, since I was worried about surgery, but we decided that was my best option. I woke up in recovery with no pain, the first time in months.
