Starting a Lake County Support Group

I have posted before. There are 2 of us interested in starting a support group in Lake County. We'd like to have a slightly larger group. We know there's one in Vernon Hills for a particular dr., but we'd like one not associated with a dr. Email me or post here if you'd like something like this. Amy

I don't blame you. That particular Dr....she pretty much sold out. And she's a fantastic Dr. There are more folks out there. Put an ad in the Advertiser and I bet you get interest. HUGS Melissa

melissa, what do you mean 'she pretty much sold out' ? just curious...she is my surgeon and we still do have support group meetings. in addition to the dr. holding a 'graduation' ceremony this fall for some members (us newer post-ops were in the audience and got to listen to inspirational testimonials) and posing for pictures with everyone, we also have speakers, this month we had a plastic surgeon come to the meeting to speak and answer questions, we've had a nutritionist speak and answer questions, we've had long-term post-ops... she even allows wls patients from other surgeons to join in on our support meetings, i know this for a fact cuz i am one who invited a gary g (lives in beach park, works in vernon hills) from these board to join us. he called the office to confirm that he would be welcome and he has attended two months worth of sessions that i know of altho he wasn't at the january meeting. he was an active participant when he attended, i thought he had a good time. so i guess i need to 'keep up' with the rumors and find out what she has done to make one say that she has sold out? thanks, sue

Well, I guess I won't say SHE sold out. She HAD a wonderful small practice with loving fantastic staff but that has changed. She is an amazing surgeon. Corrine is amazing (Is she's still there?). There were also a couple of great receptionists. Now that her practice has grown....things aren't the same. A comment was made in my presence about "TRYING" to get Ruben Studdard to do the surgery. It was way out of line. Especially by someone who hadn't had surgery. My DH had surgery with her when her office was no bigger than my kitchen. And I have to say, while her new office is very nice, the atmosphere is seriously lacking.

Everyone who is interested it looks like we may be starting a group around the Zion area. It seems that's where most of the interest is coming from. Please email with times that work and don't work for you if you'd like to join. Amy
