Lombard,IL...need to find support group

Hey everyone! My name is Christine and I just moved to Lombard, IL from NY. It's very important that i find a support group to go to in the area. I do have a car so i can drive to chicago if nessesary. I would appriciate it if anyone knew of support groups in my area. Thank you! Christine 330/175/160?

I know there are some up north. Dr. Frantzides group runs some up in Evanston and in that area. There really isn't anything in the western suburbs right noe I have found. Although I may be wrong.

Welcome to the Illinois board! The ENH Support Group (Dr Frantzides is part of it) is a very good group. It meets in 3 north suburban locations: Glenview, Vernon Hills and Evanston. It would be easiest for you to get to Glenview as it's right off 294/94. I live about 2 towns west of you and am still looking for a good alternative close by. Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield has a baratric surgery program and I know they have support groups, but I'm not sure whether they're open to the general public or not. I'm still investigating. Christine, Go to the "WLS Events" link here on OH: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/events.php Then click on Illinois. There's a listing there of support group meetings. The one I go to meets 3 days a month in various locations and is run by Karen Thomas. Her contact information is listed with the meeting information. Let us know where you end up going! Forgot to say that the ones I go to are: 07:00 PM Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, ENH Bariatric Surgery Support Group Support Group (public welcome). They meet in Evanston, Glenview (Thursdays) and Vernon Hills (Monday). Lately for whatever reason the Monday meetings seem to work best for me so I've been trekking up to Vernon Hills. The Glenview meeting is the closest though. Good luck!

Hiya, there is a meeting at Weiss Memorial Hospital evey 3rd Saturday of the month. The address is 4650 N. Marine Drive. Chicago, IL 60645.
