hello I have completed all of my pre-op testing for lap-band the Dr. I am going to take medicaid. After further research I think that I will do better with RNY. I have been told that I am a lightweight for the RNY surgery. I have a bmi and hypertension. M ycurrent weight is about 240. The thing I worry about the most is that If I get the RNY surgery will I lose to much weight I would like to lose 100 pounds. IS there any Dr's that accepts medicaid for this surgery in the chicagoland area.

I am pretty sure that if you were approved for the lap band that you will also be approved for the rny. I have medicaid and had my surgery 7/15. I saw Dr Denham he is a great dr, he is from Evanston (northwestern) I think there are other hospitals he is out of too. Good Luck Laura

Your BMI is over 40 and that is the sriteria for most ins. companies and doctors. I know some do well with a band, but I also know *I* would never have been successful with it. It is difficult to predict what your weight loss will be, but there are ways to stabilize your weight when you get down to a healthy weight for you. god luck to you !
