Dena, Those of us who are long term post ops cringe when we see someone post ' ___ lbs gone forever' because really, that's not always the case, unfortunately. The pounds are not gone forever. They're HIDING. They're LURKING waiting for you to put that first ho-ho in your mouth. Because once you do, they can creep back in. 1/2 a pound here...2 pounds there....I've seen it happen. The weight comes off easily for about 18 months. A large part of that is the surgery working as you know. You'd lose weight no matter what you ate for the most part. Especially in the first 6 months. If you existed on Cracker Jack you'd most likely still lose weight. However now that you've reached your almost-one-year mark, it's not going to be so easy. Now it's the time for you to employ everything you've learned over the past 11 months to maintain your new weight. Hopefully you've learned to make good food choices and to know when you've had enough. I'm not busting on you in any way..honest!! I'm just encouraging realism and diligence You CAN maintain your loss. You CAN make it permanant. But just realize that just because you had surgery, doen't mean you can't gain it back...and fast!!! Love and best wishes for a great 2006!! Kathy B. 242 to start/138 pre plastics in July..and 127 and holding now
