medicare/medicaid approval?

My surgeons nurse called finally. Said we had to wait on medicaid/medicare approval does anyone know how long that takes and are they know to denie or request more information. bye

I wish I could answer this for you,Marie...all he told me was that medicaid requires the psyh eval...for the approval...he said once this is in he will go further....My eval wont be until Dec7TH.....and I'm faxing this to him on his request....so, I can ask him if he happens to know how long this will take once I fax it...If anyone have info on this matter please dont hestitate to let us all know...thanx.... I was told that medicare doesnt require an approval. So I guess my surgeon is waiting on the medicaid part. But I am going to call medicare and medicaid tomorrow and find out I will let u know. bye

You're right. Medicare doesn't require pre-approval.

just to let you know medcaid approved me from the date the received the fax to the date of approval was 2 days but it took them like another 10 days to send it out. My surgery is scheduled for the 20th of this month and there is a lot that you have to go through before the surgery. Trisha

trisha so your saying you was approved in 2 days and it took them 10 to tell you. I am so confused. Who is them ann or medicaid. And what will I have to do before surgery. At least if I know if I can have the surgery I will probably relax it just seems like this is a up hill battle all the way. and then someone pushes you off the cliff so you have to start over.

Medicaid sent me the letter then i have to call ann to set the surgery and the appointments for the sleep consult and the pre-op teaching. I will be able to tell you more after the 6th that is when i am scheduled for the pre-op teaching. Trisha

I called Ann today she said that she was still waiting on medicaid approval. And that medicare didnt require an approval. Hope everything is going okay with u trisha
