Well. . .
After scheduling a Dec. 13th surgery date last August~
and
After jumping through many BCBS hoops of bariatric approval fire~
and
After worrying and wondering whether or not I would get the run around~
and
After lots and lots of reassurance from the insurance person at my surgeon's office~
I have finally been formally approved for RNY lap
But now I have to:
Do a sleep apnea test
Re-do the EKG, chest x-ray and some bloodwork
Meet with a pulmonologist
and. . . .
something else which escapes me.
I am beyond ready for 12-13-05 to arrive!

Can you tell me a secret to get BCBS to approve??
I have been given the run around for almost a month now and it all stems from my paperwork NOT being scanned into the system??
I have called Medical review, Medical services, customer service and supervisors and they ALL tell me they can't help!
I am getting So frustrated I just want to give up (which I know is what they want me to do)
UGH!!!!!

Patty~
I have BCBS HMO IL. As I understand it, there are several different insurance policy management services BCBS farms both HMOs and PPOs to because there are so many different types of policies.
I suppose I am lucky in that the service who manages my particular policy worked with my surgeon's insurance person to get approval. I did have to rewrite a couple of letters, but compared to what you and so many others are going through, my approval process was relatively easy.
I wish there was something more I could say to help you out!
