neuropathy & eyes
Hi, Billie,
I had and still have neuropathy, but my medication is down to a quarter of what it was before surgery. My eyes aren't any better, but that's due to age. And my hair has always been thin. Right now, it's finally starting to grow back from the loss that started at 7 months, so I'm not sure if it will be any thicker. That would be nice, though.
Terry
Thanks, Terry, for your post. Does your neuropathy affect just your feet or your hands, also?
I started losing my hair over a year ago. It is very thin, now. I finally got some thyroid medicine and was feeling better, then when I went to my pulmonary dr, she said my thyroid looked puffy, and I had to go off my meds for a ct scan. I had a sonagram which showed a growth. I have been trying meds for hair loss, but I've decided its pretty much a crap shoot whether my hair will come back in, medicine or no medicine. But the dr thinks that may be why i've gained so much wt and lost so much hair. Will get it next week. I've also asked them to give me a brain scan, as I'm seeing double, besides using entirely different words than what I aim to. Also, my mental facilities are not near as good as they were. I'm thinking I maybe had a small stroke when I had my last operation or maybe have a brain tumor. When I get this stuff all checked out, I'm approved for surgery.
I was also told by wls patients that thin hair will grow back when you lose your diabetes, due to wt loss. Many said their hair was thin and came back in.
My neuropathy is mostly in my feet, although there is some mild numbness in my hands. My hair was never affected by my diabetes, just from surgery. I know it will grow back, and my daughter, who is also my hairdresser, says she can see it coming back in all over.
I hope you get good news and treatment for whatever is going on. Good luck!
Terry
