Sleep Study Last Night

I think I failed Don't think I slept at all. It was the most uncomfortable bed I ever tried to sleep in. The tech confirmed that I have Apnea and Joy of Joy's I got to wear a C-PAP for the last 4 hours of the test.....then for sure I didn't sleep. So....my question, will this delay my surgery? This is the last test and I am waiting for a surgery date. What do you all think? Thanks and regards, Ronna

It might but just for about a month or two. Do you have Dr Hart as your pulmo doc? He delayed my husband's until he slept with the c-pap for a month. Then there was the wait to get back into seeing Hart, then he sent over the approval to SSCS. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it is better knowing that there may be a delay than just sitting there waiting and waiting for a phone call from SSCS.

Shoot Yes, it's Dr. Hart. I was so hoping to get this done before year end. I don't want this silly machine. The whole reason for the surgery is to get rid of all this bad stuff. Maybe I can talk him out of it Thanks for the heads up, Ronna

Ronna, I had lots of good experiences with Dr. Hart through SSCS. One thing I would suggest is that you explain to them why you need to have surgery before the end of the year. I was on a time limit.. my insurance was changing on Jan 1, 05 to a company and policy that didn't cover surgery and Dr. Hart's office (along with the rest of the SSCS staff) really bent over backwards to make sure I got in before the end of the year. Speak frankly with Dr. Hart. He's a decent guy -- he might seem a little gruff, but he's got a heart of gold and really keeps your best interest in mind when he makes decisions regarding your care. Keep us posted!! Stef

Thanks Stef, I did get the feeling that I could talk to him. I let him know that we were really hoping to do this before the end of the year. So we will see. Ronna

He (Hart) almost did not give my husband the go ahead for surgery because he was so obese (55+ bmi). My husband practically had to beg Dr Hart to let him have his surgery. I agree with the other poster that you kindly explain to Dr Hart the reasons why you would like to have the surgery before the end of the year and see how it goes. And yes he can be pretty gruff, I usually can get all people to come around to me but I could not crack his "egg" so to speak. I went with my husband to a couple of his appts. Keep us posted on your progress.

I know Dr. Hart will approve me. My BMI is not that high. In fact he told me it was below the average, which kind of surprised me. I didnt think he was gruff, just a no nonsense kind of guy. Thanks again Christine for the info. Ronna

I was only on CPAP for 10 days before surgery, so, obviously, different doctors deal with this issue differently. I hope it doesn't delay your surgery. Donna
