Hi, I just had laparoscopic surgery in Monterrey and have been referred to Dr. Vitello for followup. Perhaps we will meet? If you are having the lap-band, you can expect some soreness at the incision sites as they heal. You can also expect some bruising or skin discoloration around the incisions. You will probably be given a antibiotic prophylactically (tablets) after the one in the IV drip. Getting up and down initially is difficult due to soreness. My physician told me to roll on my side and then raise myself from bed. I didn't think I had any abdominals because of my obesity, but I guess we really do! And we depend on them. Try not to stress out. This is the best thing you can do for yourself. Th e prayers and thoughts from the group are wonderful and came just at the right time. I read them before leaving the hotel for surgery. Have confidence in your physician. He should have informed you of the risk factors and possible complications. I consider lap banc minimal risk IF YOU FOLLOW THE DOCTORS ADVICE TO THE LETTER. Not following your physicians advice on diet, nutrition, exercise, alcohol, etc. will lead to complications.
