Any one have Dr. Alverdy for a DS?

Hi, My hubby and I are waiting for a decision from Dr. Alverdy's office to see if they will take him on as a patient. The team meets on Weds to give the thumbs up or down. Frankly, I'm pretty sure it will be thumbs up. I'm interested in any information or tips on dealing with this practice. We will be traveling from Michigan and will have to stay close to the hospital, so any advice would be welcomed. Thanks, Nancy

Nancy You may want to try the duodenal switch message board. Also, there is a yahoo group that has duodenal switch patients from Illinois. if you go to yahoo groups and do a search on duodenal switch + Illinois it should show up. A friend of mine had the DS with Dr. Alverdy 2 years ago and she has done well. A couple of OH members on the BAF message board have had successful surgeries with him. Hopefully, I will too one day! Hi Nancy, I am in the process of applying for the surgery with Dr. Hungess. My first consultation is on Nov. 9. I believe he is in the same building (UofC Hospital) or close to Dr. Alverdy. I'm not sure how they determine who takes which patients. I am driving 4 hours to the hospital, so I know how you feel about the traveling. I also noticed you are from Battle Creek.. I recently moved to Olney, IL from Grand Rapids. How long did it take from your husbands consultation until the decision (Wed.)?

Hi, Dr. Alverdy did my RNY 6+ years ago. He is fantastic, 3what do you want to know. I lost over 200 pounds,he was a great cheerleader and honest. Told me what to expect. Which I like alot. I would be happy Dr. Prachand is also part of his practice, he is also wonderful. They are a great team of doctors, you coudn't be in better hands, Take care, email me at [email protected].
