CORI craziness

Sorry I haven't been on here in a while. I have been disgusted with CORI center and haven't felt like doing anything surgery related. To fill you in, CORI has put a hold on all scheduling until sometime after the first of the year. I knew I wasn't going to have surgery until after the first, but I was hoping to at least have a date and start making plans. They told me that they couldn't set any dates because they are getting a new surgeon and the amount of medicaid people they can take each month may change, possibly even decrease. I can't understand how adding a surgeon can make the amoutn of people you can help go down. In my approval letter I stated that I was approved until March 22, and CORI is already past that and they don't have any idea what month I may be looking at. If I lose my approval I will be so pissed. Anyway, that is what is going on with me and why I'm not around as much lately. Love, Ami

I know what you mean about the craziness although I haven't had to endure what you have. My date was changed due to the new surgeon and now I have to wait for reapproval from medicaid to get the new surgeon on it. Something that the new office lady was supposed to have done a week and 1/2 ago but didn't till last Wednesday when I called to check on my status. So now if this doesn't get approval before 11/9 I don't get surgery in November. I was told that the new surgeon will only handle 1 medicaid patient per month. Who knows Well I hope things work out for you as well as others who are having difficulty. Take care, Anita

Ami I know this is really frustrating.. but just so you know this and anyone on medicaid understands why sugeons are cutting back is mostly because medicaid only pays them $700 bucks. Thats all they make.. while that may seem a lot to you and me.. most surgeons make a few thousand per surgery.. I also heard medicaid is reducing how much they are willing to pay out to a surgeon not sure if this is true.. I would call them again and remind them that your approval is only good till March... hang in there it will happen just dont give up!!! Debby

Ami, I really understand your frustration. Cori needs to either treat all of their patients the same, or not accept medicare. It is not your fault that you have medicare, and they are treating you differently because of it. Hang in there! Melissa
