I have a new surgery date

Well, looks like I won't be having surgery on November 9, 2005 anymore. My new surgery date is November 30, 2005. My original doctor, Dr. Michael Wood, is no longer practicing in Illinois. I really liked him, he was very nice and reassuring. However, since he left, I had to see a new surgeon which pushed me off schedule by almost a month. But the ONLY really great part about getting a new surgery date, is that I won't have to miss cooking Thanksgiving dinner with my daughters, and chasing my 6'4" son and husband out of the kitchen. It's my family's favorite time of the year. It's the one time we sit around and just enjoy each others' company. Strange as it might sound, I don't eat that much on Thanksgiving. After I get through cooking for 3 days, I just don't have that much of an appetite...however, since I'll be having WLS one week later, I just might treat this as my last meal before my skinny beginning. Ahh, who knows, I'm just glad I'm having WLS!!! Jacquie W.

I'm so sorry to hear that your date has been changed I know exactly how you feel as the same thing happened to me and that is how I ended up on the 9th of November. You definately deserve a treat and I don't blame you for treating Thanksgiving as your last meal, however I also know what you mean by having non appetite, thats why if I feel up to it I'm still preparing my husband and kids dinner at home. If I don't feel up to it grandma is cooking anyway and we are going there as well, so either way these boys of mine all get to eat! Keep your positive outlook on this situation and all will work out great for you! Take care, Anita

Thank you so much for the encouragement. My family is very happy about my surgery date being on Nov. 30th. They're not jumping up and down about it, ahhhh, but I can tell. Especially since my son asked me when was I going to buy dead bird! My children are all grown. My eldest baby girl is 27 years old, my youngest baby girl is 25, and my only son is 24 years old. We are a very close family, and I love them like my last breath, (which by the way won't be taken until I'm 120 years old)! I love it when they all come home for the Holidays. My husband and my son try to sneek a slice of pie or cake, when they think I'm not looking. I always have a relish tray, chips & dip, pecans and walnuts, and a nut cracker available so they will stay downstairs in the family room, but they sneek upstairs anyway. Ah, my husband needs to use the computer to pays some bills. I'll type to you later. Jacquie W.

Jacquie, sorry to hear about the date change but I am strong believer in that God works in mysterious ways and He always has a reason for everything that He does. I think that it definitely is so you can enjoy this time with your family. Take care and we are here for you if you need support. Chris

Thank you Chris. It was my hearts desire to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family; so having surgery on Nov 9th would have hindered my enjoying this cherished holiday time. Yet, I did want to have the surgery on the date that they gave me Nov. 9th. But that's what I wanted...the conclusion of the matter is God know what's best for me, and He sees and knows thing that we don't. Thank you for pointing that much needed fact out to me. Jacquie W.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday too. It's just not as commercial as the others and is so family centered. Sorry you're date has been moved, but it will all work out. God bless you. Donna
