Antibiotics-Post OP

Hi--Just wondering if anyone has been through the same thing. I am 10 days post op of Lap/Rny. I have developed an infection at my incision. The doc prescribed antibiotics--first rx for capsules--I could not gag down--next one for BIG tablets. I cut them up and try to swalllow with as little water as possible--because I would like to eat with them too. What am I better off doing---trying to get them down w/ liquid or food/liquid combo? The instructions say to take with 8 oz water--well we all know that is impossible. They are soooo nasty--truly I have tried and tried just smashing them and mixing with food. I cannot stop gagging when I do this. I guess my question is---can I take 8oz liquid to get these pills down? I am tired of calling the dr's office. Thanks for any help.

I too had an incision and think I got the liquid antibiotics - pink stuff the kids get. It has sugar in it and I dumped a little from it. Try topical antibiotics too.

I smashed my pills up and ate them will apple sauce.. make sure there is more applesauce than pill it helps.
