New to Chicago and Looking for Support Group

I am almost 1 Year post-op and have just moved here from Charlotte NC. I am looking to find a support group and maybe meet some new friends. I live in the city and looking for one close to Lincoln park. Thanks

James, First of all, Welcome to the best city in the world!! Second of all, I don't know of any specific groups in your area but OH just hosted a convention at one of the hospitals up in your area -- I can't recall the name of it because I didn't go -- but I imagine they must have a group there.. I'll ask around and see what I can find out for you.. If you have any questions, just ask.. somebody here is bound to have an answer or a word of encouragement for you! Hi James, Welcome to the Windy City. if you click on Events to the left of the posting area on ObesityHelp Illinois Message Board, you'll find a listing of support groups, dates & times, in Illinois. It looks like the only ones in CHicago that are listed with ObesityHelp are at Swedish Covenant Hospital - it's on Foster near California, not exactly close to Lincoln Park. If you've found a PCP in Chicago, you might want to ask for a recommendation for a support group. I know that Northwestern Hospital has a pretty big bariatric practice, you could call there. ENH runs support groups in various locations about 4 times a month. The closest one for you would be Evanston Hospital, which is actually accessible via public transportation. I am a group leader at Weiss, we have a meeting every 3rd Saturday of the month.
