encouragment need
Hi Janell --
We have the same surgeon (you're going to be so happy! He's awesome)!
As for the wait.. honestly I don't know about Aetna. I was with BCBS of OR (yes, I'm in IL -- my employer insured us through OR at the time) and not a lot of people realize that you can communicate with your insurance company during this process... call the number on the back of your card for the doctors to call.. play a little dumb, like you didn't realize you'd called the wrong number and just politely explain you're trying to find out how long it usually takes to hear -- see if you can strike up a conversation with the rep.. get their name.. be friendly.. ask what they think your chances might be.. ask for details about an exclusion if there is one.. and most importantly ask for that person's direct extension and ask if they would mind if you called them again for an update in about a week.. they're usually pretty good about that kind of thing..
Don't be afraid to call them and ask. It doesn't count against you. They don't record it and hold it against you at all.. but it will give YOU some peace of mind and a sense of control over it.
If you read my profile, you can see that I was on top of my insurance company the whole way.. and I managed to "befriend" a girl who was at the call center.. she would even call ME with updates..
Good luck and please keep us posted!!
