So I had my consult at Cori Center today. Everything went well, I guess. I am second guessing myself though. I was not aware when I scheduled my appoinment with CORI that they did not do the lap rny, which is what I was hoping to have. They only do the lap band and a special procedure called the micropouch, that I am not familiar with. Does anyone know anything about it? Anyway, just thought I would update. Ami

No, I always mean to go, but by the time it rolls around I forget. I am, as always, going to try to go next month. I hope I get a chance to talk to her. Ami

Hi Ami I was gonna email you to see how your consult went. Did they not give you any information about the micropouch while you were at the consult? Just curious. As for what I was told the micrpouch is basically the same as the regular RNY only with the micro they take your stomach down to the size of a grape and it is built back up to the size of an orange and you have a little lesser risk of future weight gain. Just the way I understood it. If I can help with anything please let me know. Take care, Anita

No, they didn't really explain it that well. They said that it was similar to the standard bypass, but the new pouch was 3 cc's instead of 30 cc's. I was just a little concerned about the drastic difference. Dr. Romberg did the educational portion of the consult, but the rest of the women in the group didn't seem to be as well educated and spent alot of time asking fairly common knowledge questions so he couldn't get real in depth. And during the one on one I spoke to Dr. Johnson. I was not as impressed with him as I was Dr. Romberg. He may be a fantastic surgeon, but he really lacked any sort of personality. Anyway, I have been trying to do some research on it since then, and am a little more comfortable with it. thanks, Ami
