Has anyone in here managed to get past BCBS HMO stupid 12 month "medically supervised diet failure," not even sure what that means. The lady at the medical group (unified physcians network) has been awfully rude and un-helpful . would appreciate if anyone had an experience with this, and if u did get around it how

Jason, I am sorry that I do not have an answer for you. But from what I have read, they are pretty much firm on the supervised diet trys. I have read of 6 and 12 months here on the boards. Have you tried putting your question of the main board or the IN board maybe you will get more responses.

Sorry but Nope!! I am getting ready to submit in a couple weeks AFTER going through the 12 month supervised diet. Perhaps - if your Co-morbities are getting worse and if your doctor thinks you CAN NOT wait the 12 months, he can write a letter to that effect and see if that helps. I also have gotten lots of great information from BCBS by calling the 800 number on the back and speaking to a patient advocate. They outlined all the steps I needed to take and how it should be written for approval. As I said, I have not submitted yet, so I am not sure that is even going to work! Good luck.

Jason, I had the same experience with BCBS HMO of IL so when open enrollment at my job came around I shopped around for a different insurance plan and ended up choosing UHC POS/SBC Custom Care. Pam
