I am a newbie around here so I did not know you before. I am also preop, but have also struggled with depression the last couple weeks or so. Even thought about calling off the surgery a couple times. Don't know what it is.
Have you talked to your doc about it? Maybe he can suggest some antidepressents or something??
Steriod will also make you gain weight - so do not be to hard on yourself.
Perhaps a visit with a nutritionist where you are might help - I am glad you found a support group as well where you are at.
So sorry you are going through a hard time in your life. Just think of how FAR you have come!!!
I have learned over this last week not to turn away from the boards. There is really a great group of people here that do care and understand (probably better than anyone can)
Take care and hang in there!

Marsha, my mom didn't have Gastric Bypass, but she has gained 90 pounds since they put her on Paxil and xanax. My mom was NEVER overweight until she went on this medication. Now she can not live without the medication and is down about her weight. I would definetely call your surgeon and see what he thinks. It is definetely worth the call. Good luck!!

Marsha -
I am to new of a post op to have much advice for you. Patty is right, steriods do make you gain. Could it be the gain from the drugs that you are experiencing?
I am happy to hear that you have found a support group out there, make sure you are going.
I think that you should call your surgeons office and talk to him. I know it is a long distance phone call but worth every second of the call.
Best wishes
Nancy
