Is anybody having a problem with gas? I am about 9 months post RNY and it is driving me crazy! If I don't pass it I have terrific pains in my stomach. When I do pass, usually only at home, I swear you could hear me a mile away. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. Louise

I think that there are many PO RNY patients that have some form of gas problem myself included. I find that if I eat too many refined carbs in the form of sugar or floor types of foods I have a big problem with gas. And it is smelly. I do not always stay away from carbs but find a big improvement with the emmisions that I have if I stay away from them. My husband is PO RNY also and he experiences it also with carbs.

It is gross but a fact of life. I will say that being PO is you get gas you HAVE to let it out it hurts too much if you don't...and I do also admit that my PO gas is much more potent than pre-op. The army could bottle it and use it for a weapon!!!

Hi,Ramona! Watch those carbs --- they really contribute to gas. You are right - it is worse after surgery and you just gotta pass it. But I have learned that my issues are worse with gas if I eat too many carbs....hmmmm, another way to keep us on the "straight and narrow!" Oh, well - regards Midge
