Consult Complete
Went to my consultation yesterday. Went very well. Brought my wife who is currently down 150 lbs (RNY-open) after 2 years...think they were more interested in her status than mine! Little snafu was that I did not fill out the paperwork ahead of time for my diet history and such...but when I let them know that it was because I had already jumped through the necessary hoops with my PCP and the insurance company to be approved they were fine with it. They all felt that I am a good candidate for the RNY-Lap surgery ...especially since I have seen it all first hand and still want to go through it. Got a kick out of answering some of the questions...have I been to 2 of the group meetings yet, I asked if the ones that my wife went to counted...they said, I guess so. They do need to better tailor the medical questionairre though. Think my wife was going to die when I pointed out the question of "Have I missed my periods recently"...how exactly does a guy answer this one? Trust me...I have never missed those things occuring!
Now I get to jump through the hoops of all the referrals for bloodwork, psych, endoscopy, and whatever else they can come up with. They said it usually takes about 2 months from the consult to being cut open...hoping this is shorter for me since I am already "pre-approved" on the insurance side. Will see.
One more step out of the way.
Awkward part is that my wife and I are separated and probably will be divorcing...she will still assist me with this as it is something that I want...hope I can get through the psych part when it gets to current stress related issues in my life..........wish me luck!
