Anyone with BCBS had the lap band done at the Barix clinics in Schaumburg?

I am wondering if anyone has had the lap band done at the bariatrix clinics in Schaumburg? I went to the wish center, and they informed me of their $1,995 support fee that had to be payed before the surgery, and none of it is covered by any insurance company. I did not go with them, so I am looking for a new clinic/surgeon.

My understanding is that BCBS considers the lap band to be experimental and they do not cover the surgery. I did a quick check in the insurance area for Illinois and went through 3 pages of BCBS reviews and did not find any lap band postings. There were mostly RNY and adjustable gastric band. Your best bet is to call your insurance and see if your policy covers lap band. Good luck.
