Anyone have Dr. LaDonna Bryan as a surgeon (Harvard, IL)?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had Dr. LaDonna Bryan as a surgeon for their WLS? I went for a consult with her and she was really very nice, informative and down-to-earth. The only thing that concerned me was that she totally talked me out of getting the Lap Band (which I have been desperately wanting for three years now!) and into getting RNY. She wasn't on the list of surgeons on this website, so I was just wondering how others have felt about her, or if you've had the same kind of experience. Thanks! Julie G. 285 Pre-op

Julie, I do not know anything about you doctor but I think that maybe she considered what your prior eating history was and thought that RNY would be better for you. If you are a sugar eater you will be able to get away with eating a lot of sugar with the band. Maybe she also knows that your insurance company will not pay for the band, some insurance companies think that it is experimental. A person looses slower on the band and some do not loose as much as with RNY. Start doing some research on your own to see what the rate of loss is for RNY compared to the band. And also I would ask her why she talked you into RNY, you have to be totally comfortable with your doctor before having surgery and if you think that you may resent her PO because she did RNY on you instead of the band then take all that into consideration before surgery.

I had Dr. Ganta in Harvard. He was a jewel. He left a month after he did my surgery. My experience at Harvard hospital has been negative. I was told that the hospital would except what the insurance company paid and not expect me to pay my deductible. Now I am getting bills from them. They have a lot of temp nurses working for them at the hospital and they are not good. I had to have an x-ray because they thought I had a leak and there wasn't even a wheelchair available. I was pretty sick and weak and I had to walk to x-ray holding on to the walls. . I only got a bed bath from the 11-7 nurse after I told her I didn't get a bath. i Dr. Bryan has been sarcastic with me and condescending. I have done well and have lost 102 lbs in 6 months. I will probably look into having PS in Belvidere. If you would like for me to be specific about what this Dr. has said and done, I will e-mail you. I would look into Belvidere or kishwaukee. Good luck
