Hi, I am so thouroughly disgusted with the baritrics doctors in Illinois!!! I am diabled so I have Medicare as my primary and I can't find ANYONE to take the medicare card. I did reach one place that offered to use me as "THEIR FIRST" , but I don't think so. I had heard that Dr. Rosheib was decent enough but when I called they said no medicare > Why is it that some doctors will even take medicaid but not medicare.??? My husband is on home care, with nurses coming in daily . I can't be away from home that long, or have a MAJOR< MAJOR Surgery because of him . I desperately need the lap band but can't find a doctor close like 40-50 miles away , Springfield, Clinton, Champaign ???? MY LITTLE BROTHER DIED LAST YEAR AND I SKYROCKED EVEN WORSE ON MY WEIGHT!!!! Can ANYONE HELP ME?????????

Sadona, I don't know what to tell you because I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of medicare as far as WLS goes. But, I hear your frustration and really hope this problem gets solved quickly. I'll be praying for you. One piece of advice: DO NOT BE ANYONE'S FIRST WLS SURGERY. You need to have someone who has done many of these things and knows what to do no matter what happens. Take care.

Hello Sadona, You might want to call the COMP clinic in Springfield. I went there for my RNY ... but I have heard talk of them doing the lap band. They have 2 top notch surgeons there and the entire program is comprehensive - combining psych, dietary, and medical support all in one location. the comop clinic does not do Lap I was going to do it there and the company wanted 30,000 up front to certifi them and the comp clinic said forget it so they are back to only doing Open RNy

I meant the lap band, not the RNY done lap.

thats what I ment too the comp clinic does not do the lap band they didn't want to pay 30,000 for equipment so they backed out of getting certified.. I was set to do it and then when I got my ok to see the surgon dr. rogers told me they are no longer going to do the lap band. hey sassy when is the meeting in aug?

I know what you are going threw I called every place and it was no,no,no So I was like ok Im disabled and poor so my life isnt worth their saving?// then I found the very best place in the world it is Cori Care in Harvey Il The Dr. is Dr. Wood ,Dr. Johnson and there is one more dont know his name they are all the nicest people in the world I called they said yes they take the medicaid card they had me in for a app. within a week and 2 weeks later I was aproved I never dealt with any insurance at all it was so easy, and within a month of my first visit I was approved and had a surgery date, in fact in about i hour ill be on the rode to harvey for my surgery!
