Intolerance to Protein? Anyone else?
Hello everyone! I have been busy reading everyone's updates and so on! You all look great! Congrats to the new members for finding us on OH, this board rocks!!!
Well I am 3 months out....down 53 pounds, feeling pretty darn good!
I am eating well. Protein foods first, then if room allows a veg or a fruit. Never can get both in, but thats a good thing in my book!!
I am still lacking some energy and still trying really hard getting my shakes in.
Its been a uphill battle! For the ones most of you all like make me so darn sick (stack!)....
Does anyone who is post op have this problem? Did you find anything you liked? Or could tolerate!
I could use some advice or recipes to try. I am sick of ordering samples all the time, just wastes money - goes right down the toilet! Literally!
I have no probs with Any Whey tastelss (really not tasteless), but I am tired of mixing that....love some new suggestions! Thanks so much!

Jenn,
Nah...there are lots of us. However, there are those that will tell you that you CANT be healthy without supplements. Bologna. Labs dont lie, and its all a matter of finding what works for you. Protein supplements that don't stay down do you very little good
In my first few months post op, not being able to tolerate supps, shrimp was my best friend. I loved the little salad shrimp you can get from Super KMart for 99 cents...with some Franks Red Hot sprinkled in the bag...Yum yum!! Another secret...put cheese and/or eggs in everything. Grill some chicken breasts, cut 'em up and put them over Romaine and Spinach mixed. A little dressing, some chopped up eggs and cheese...VOILA! Instant protein dinner....and you also get the good carbs while you're at it!!!
You CAN do this...its a matter of experimenting!
Email me any time, kiddo...it only gets better from here!
xoxo

I was also intolerant of liquid protein drinks after surgery (before surgery, they were fine). I have protein bars almost every day. Odyssey Bars, available at Walgreen's, have 30 grams of protein, so most days I only eat a half. I also like South Beach Diet bars made by Kraft. The peanut butter bar is small and delicious.
