I just wanted to let everyone know that I am home and doing wonderful! I actually came home on Thursday afternoon. I read all my emails and then took a nap. Yesterday I was up and about doing things and never got to the computer. I was really afraid before surgery but am so happy I did it!!! I will not say it was a walk in the park but it was not even close to as bad as I thought it could be. My incision is huge (I would say about 8 inches) but it does not bother me. The only thing that hurts at all is coughing. I have not had to sneeze yet but I think that will hurt too. Anyways, thank you everyone for your well wishes and emails, they were great appreciated! Nancy, You sound great. Congratulations. I know it hurts to cough, but it's a good thing to do. It will help keep you lungs clear. I know what you mean by worrying about sneezing. I was the same way. I had my surgery during the height of spring allergy season and, when I start, I don't stop. I will usually sneeze about 10 times. Anyway, when I finally did sneeze, there was a definite twinge, but not too bad. And then, it got easier and easier. The doctor assured me even though I thought the sneezing would do damage to my tender tummy, it wouldn't. I couldn't hurt myself. So, sneeze away. Donna

From one Nancy to another, Welcome Home I live in Beecher IL and I believe I work with a friend of yours, Patty, who also lives in Mokena. If you might know who I'm talking about, ask her if she works with a Nancy from Beecher who also had weight loss surgery. Anyway, congratulations Keep a positive outlook and you will discover that this is the best decision you have ever made. As for the coughing, be sure to hold your incison line when coughing. I did alot of coughing after my surgery, and have a huge hernia as a result. Let me know if I can be of any support to you. I know you will have lots of questions and you embark on this journey, but it's all worth it. Nancy 382/229/180? (RNY 10/18/04)

Nancy - We definately have the same friend In fact, she just left my house. I could not give myself the blood thinner shots so she came over twice a day to give them to me!! I keep hearing how great you are doing, congrats to you I have been wondering about getting a hernia if I don't hold it. I have been trying to hold it everytime I cough but it always still hurts in the same spot. I am so looking forward to Wed when the drain and the staples come out. It is nice to meet you, I have heard so much about you Nancy
