vitamins
As part of my doctor's protocol he puts everyone on vitamins for our 8 week practice diet (the practice diet is to help you become accustomed to the lifestyle routine PO, not to loose weight pre-op). I had to take the prescribed vitamins and minerals which is a multi with iron, B-complex and two doses of calcium citrate with D. This routine helps you to become used to taking them and also helps feed your body and prepare for the surgery. As far as your question of "needing" to take them now, it would not hurt, but you really need to get some direction from your surgeon as to what you should be taking.
I agree that to check with your surgeon as to what he would like you to take. My son was on flintstone vitamins before surgery. It sure doesn't hurt you to be on a good vitamin regime beforehand but see what your Dr. prefers.
After surgery I was on Vista chews that's what the SIU Comp prescribed. Peoria Surgical group and nutrtionists suggest Optisource which has everything. you only need the one pill and no sublingual b12. The Optisource is like $25.00 for a months supply. So it really does depend on your group.
Hope everything goes smoothly for you....
