weight gain
hey everybody....i'm fairly new to the boards. I'm going in next thursday for my second appointment with my surgeon, and we will be setting a date. Yay!! My question for all of you....is it normal to gain weight before the surgery? I know a lot of surgeons ask that you lose x amount before the surgery (mine does not require this). I know it's kind of stupid, but i think i have "the last supper" syndrome, only it's been every day almost. I feel stupid for doing this but i can't seem to help it. I know it's only going to make things harder- but that voice inside keeps telling me to have it now while i still can! Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, what you did about it. Thanks!

Sarah,
I did the same thing before my surgery, and I know that right now it seems like it would make things more difficult to give up afterwards but it really doesn't. So I would say that as long as you aren't making yourself sick...enjoy a little. Your taste will chang after the surgery and you may find that you don't like and/or don't miss all those things you are giving up. I know I don't.

I just had my surgery on the 15th, the only thing I really craved as a "last supper" was a good cheeseburger. But just remember that any weight you gain before surgery is that much more weight yoou have to lose. So maybe induldge a little but try not to gain so much weight. Eventually you will be able to eat foods you liked before surgery just in smaller portions. Good Luck
