We have a health fair kinda thing - where they do our bone density, measure cholesterol and glucose, calculate our BMI, and measure our body fat percentage. Well, I did great on all counts! My bone density was ABOVE AVERAGE which makes me super duper happy - I spend a lot of money on calcium supplements..and a year ago my bone density was average, so I actually improved and so I'm pleased. Calcium supplements are so important for women - and especially for us post op gals. Most importantly though, both my BMI and body fat are within the "ideal" range (lol - although toward the high end). I knew that they would be - but I was positively ECSTATIC after listening to my friends and coworkers gripe about being overweight & obese (according to body fat and BMI calculations). In my mind, these people are much much smaller than I am. It just goes to show how warped my body image is...even at 2 years post op (my 2 year anniversary is 7/31), I still don't see my body accurately. Cheers to good health for all of us!

Good morning, Just read your posting....wonderful news for you!!! I had my surgery last November and am down 120 lbs now. I went to the same surgical group as you...Dr. Verseman did my surgery and has since left the practice. I will be going to see Dr. Guske in Nov. I can so relate to our "warped body image". The outfit that I wore to work yesterday...I kept thinking...this makes me feel so fat, makes my thighs look huge...you know...all that negative thinking..haunted me all day. Then on the flip side of all that ...I have people asking me....how much more weight are you going to lose, you should stop dieting now, blah, blah, blah. You look great....you should share your story with others. I am having a hard time with the snacking thing now...everything finally tastes good and I can feel myself falling into some of the same old compulsive habits. Do you go to any of the support groups that Alexian has....I have gone to a few but, was not impressed with having to pay...which I don't think is right and have shared that opinion with PJ and also found them to be very boring. I think everytime I get ready to step on the scale...oh no..have I gained...will I turn into the obese person that I was for so many years again...will I sabotage myself as I always have in the past. Even though we can only eat small amounts...we can still eat....and we can graze thru the day. I am proud of myself for my loss and thank God everyday that I was able to have this surgery. I even continue to work out 3-4x a week but, that old mentality to want to eat...is still there at time..... Any thoughts from anybody out there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for letting me ramble...I haven't posted anything in a very long time. Have a wonderful weekend everybody. Kristi
