Illinois Medicaid
I am not sure where Carterville is, however, I have found only 2 that take Illinois Public Aid. One is Dr Shayani and Dr Sarker out of Loyala Medical Center in Maywood Illinois and the other is Dr. (James) Bradley Ray in Bloomington IN. I have decided to travel the approximatley 175 miles(one way) to Dr Ray in Bloomington IN. His office is very nice and are willing to do what needs to be done for Medicaid.
The office in Maywood requested that all the tests be done there and you have to go to a support group meeting before you can even schedule a consult. Since I would have to travel to them also they were going to allow me to schedule an appointment for the morning after the support group meeting. Dr Ray's office will allow you to do most of the testing locally. The do require that you do diet classes in Bloomington IN because this person knows exactly what Dr Ray is looking for and works alongside Dr Ray. You do have to pay $100.00 out of pocket for the diet classes as public aid will not pay them. You might check local doctors also. I have a clinic that will do it 30 miles from my house and take medicaid, but only if you are already a patient with them - unfortunately for me, I was not a patient with them. I hope this information helps you some. I fyou have any questions you can email me direct to [email protected] Good luck in your search!!
Hey there neighbor! There are a few drs out there that will take the medical card. Dr. oliphant in Urbana does, the Cori Center up in Lansing does, the ones mentioned above. The Comp Clinic in Springfield does I believe. If you check out Debby G's profile(Sparky's Girl is her screen name) she's got a list of drs in Illinois that accept the medical card. If I can find it, I will post it on here for you.
Give me a holler sometime since we're so close, maybe I could help you out with getting things in line. have you ever went to the support group meetings in Murphysboro? They are the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6pm-8pm. If your interested, give me a holler and I'll tell you more.
It funny you say that. I had heard from someone that had heard through the grapevine not to use him. I already had a consult set up with him and I cancelled it - before even meeting him. I am glad there are people on OH like you that will give an honest opinion about these doctors. It is greatly appreciated.
here are the ones Debby has listed on her profile-

Dr. Frederick Tiesenga in River Forest. (708) 386-1078 He just started accepting public aid. To get into the consult with him you will have to go to an informational meeting and get a packet. In the packet will be papers for you to fill out. You will need an upper GI, Gallbladder U/S(If you still have it), Psych Eval, Sleep Study (IF NEEDED), nutritionist consult ($75 OOP) You also have to write an essay explaining how YOU think the surgery is and how it is going to go. You have to explain WHY you need the surgery. (This all gets sent to the insurance company) He is now doing only 2 IPA surgeries a month.

Dr. Dillon (the surgeon currently doing wls does not) but he takes Medicare
IO\'m from near Chicago, so you are a kinda far. But I am seeing Dr Denham out of Evanston. I really just wanted to give you a suggestion for when it comes to get your pysc eval, medicaid doesnt cover pyschologist (sp) but it does cover pyschiatrist(sp), so when you need your eval done, just fine a pyschiatrist that accepts medicaid and you wont have to pay out of pocket.
Good luck
Laura
