I have been a member of this site fot a few months I have made a profile but never posted before, but I felt I had to now...my surgery is July 11th and Iam scared out of my mind! Im 37 296 pounds Im having the micro patch in harvey illinois at cori center it only took about 1 month to get my appointment and approved from medicaid.. I guess since every thing has gone so smooth and so quckly i just cant quite beleive its happening to me. I have not quit smoking yet and of course Im worried about that too, I go for my last testing on Tues. the chest x ray and more blood work, and then its time for the big day, is it worth it? is it very painful? any words would be helpful thanks all, Lisa m. Hi! July 11th is quickly approaching! How exciting. I had RNY on March 31st. Or what I like to call... My Re-Birthday! I will save you the redundancey, You can read my profile. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 210.4!! All in only 2 months! I'm not sure about the "micro-patch". But my opinion is... anyone who can beat obesity, regardless of how, is a true winner!!! I smoked for 18 years and quit 3 years ago. After surgery it was hard to do my breathing exercises, I did it, but it was hard. Keep in mind, nicotine is only in your body for 3 days... only 72 hours! Any cravings after that are all in your head. Take control back! You are in my prayers! Stay strong!!! Jennie

Hi Lisa, I haven't had surgery yet either and am going through the CORI Centers. I can't give a whole lot of advice but just thought I would let you know that I will be thinking of you and I am sure everything will go just fine for you. Good luck I know you'll do great. YOur in my prayers and thoughts. Anita

I had an open rny on 6/8/05. Many things went wrong. I had multiple adhesions resulting in a10 hr surgery. I required 2 units of blood & I spent the night in ICU on a ventilator. The next night they thought I had developed a pulmonary embolism so I was rushed down for a cat scan. Thank God every thing was OK. I really only told you all of this to point out it's not all a bed of roses. Good luck! Kathy O.
