I have pre-op jitters...I know that they are normal to a degree...but how much is normal. I am not afraid so much of the pain, I'm afraid of complications. I am emotionally ready for the lifestyle change--eating and such....I just don't know what to expect and don't want to be running to the emergency room for every little twitch I feel. I am mostly scared of P. Embolisms... I have prepared myself and my home with the right tools, drinks, clear liquid diets, receipes for protein smoothies, liquid vitamins and my family is prepared also. I just have three plus weeks to go and I have a beautiful family that needs me as much as I need them. I have a good doc who does only bari surgery. I am having an open rny. I just worry about blood clots mostly and have heard that taking vitaman e thins blood naturally. I do know that I will be taking Heparin shots post-op...but do really worry about the clotting thing. My tests for my clotting factor came out fine...I just notice that when I have accidentally cut my leg or something, I clot right away...I don't bleed and bleed... Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. RNW

Red, You have done your homework. You are well-informed, you've made good choices. My motto is "Don't worry until you have something to worry about." You come to a point where you have done everything you could. Then, it's time to turn it over to the pros, the doctors, the nurses, and God. Trust that you will be well taken care off by all of them. When you wake up from surgery, walk every chance you get, even if it's hard to do. That's the best thing you can do to avoid clots. And you'll be getting heparin, so you'll be fine. Also, we will all be praying for you. You'll be fine and you have a whole new life waiting for you. Donna

That is exactly what I needed to hear. I have prayed heavily about this and have had doors closed and opened when I thought that they wouldn't be. I had surgery on my neck and I know that God will lead the hand of my physician...I'm just wondering how much worry is normal? RNW
